JORDAN, Minn. - A mother who is fighting to keep her dying son home has won the latest battle.
Rachele Chrismer tells KARE 11 that a Scott County judge ordered to temporarily keep her 12-year-old son, Zach West, in her home. The ruling came during an emergency hearing Friday afternoon.
West suffers from a rare neurological disorder. Usually the boy's father, Mike West takes his son to his home every other weekend, but Zach's condition has worsened. Doctors say there is nothing more they can do for him.
His medical staff believes moving him could make things worse, maybe even kill him.
His father disputes that and wants to spend private time with his son in his remaining days rather than go to Chrismer's house for visits.
Chrismer says a hearing is scheduled next Friday to decide the matter.
