VERONA, Wisc.- Much of southern Wisconsin remained under a blizzard warning Thursday night as powerful winds whipped around more than a foot of new snow.

"Enough gets to be enough," said Russ Rand, as he sat parked in his 18-wheeler on a freeway ramp near Verona. "It's just too much stress."

Rand pulled off the road about 10 a.m. Thursday and didn't plan to pick up his trip -- with a load of Wisconsin cheese-- until Friday morning.

"You can't see in the day, I'm not going to try it at night," he said.

Road ditches were littered with abandoned cars and trucks.

Oscar Sanchez was among the lucky few, when he slid of Highway 151. Several other motorists pushed his Toyota Matrix back onto highway 151 so he could continue his trip to work.

He apologized to his rescuers for his poor English. They understood the two words that mattered. "Thank you," followed by high fives and hugs.
