GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - Military leaders are preparing for a new chapter in the armed services now that the Pentagon has thrown out a military rule that banned women from direct roles in combat.
It's welcome news for many women who say they've already been on the front lines in both Iraq and Afghanistan.
1st Lt. Tara Robertson visited KARE 11 Sunrise to talk about women serving in combat.
Lt. Robertson returned in September 2012 from a deployment to Afghanistan with the Minnesota National Guard's Agribusiness Development Team.
The team of 22 soldiers were comprised of an array of backgrounds and expertise in various sectors of the agri-business field. They assisted the local government and farmers in developing sustainable agricultural practices.
