MINNEAPOLIS - As far as reading lists go, this one trulymeasures the pulse of the Twin Cities.

The Hennepin County Libraries released their top 25 lists for 2012in terms ofcheckouts by adults, teens, kids and the very young. Library officials say the lists show that Hennepin County readers are quite consistent in their reading interests year to year.

In 2011 and 2012, 24 of the top 25 adult titles checked out were fiction. The one non-fiction title in the top 25, both in 2011 and 2012, was "Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption."

Crime and mystery fiction by well-known writers such as John Sandford, Janet Evanovich, Sue Grafton, and James Paterson were clear favorites.

Teen readers are all about Suzanne Collins. In 2012 as in 2011, Collins' "The Hunger Games" was the most checked-out teen book of the year. Her "Catching Fire" moved up from number four to number two, and Collins' "Mockingjay" remained as the third most popular teen title of the year.

Another futuristic novel, "Divergent" by Veronica Roth, and a World War II fiction, "The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak, round out the teen top five.

Jeff Kinney once again corned the market on kids' imaginations, with six of his "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" books taking the top six children's spots in 2012. Books by fantasy writers J. K. Rowling and Mary Pope Osborne monopolize most of the remaining places in the children's top 25 list of 2012.

A new category in 2012, easy books (for very young children), has more variety. Eighteen of the top 25 titles are by different authors. The list includes "Lego Star Wars" at number one, "Curious George Goes to the Zoo" in second place, and two "Fancy Nancy" titles in third and fourth place (as well as seventh and 21st). "I Can Be a Ballerina" came in at number five and is one of two titles from this "Step Into Reading" series that made it into the top 25.

Here are the top 25s, in their entirety.
