MINNEAPOLIS - Los Angeles Lakers center Dwight Howard has been ruled out of Friday night's game against the Minnesota Timberwolves because of an injured right shoulder.
He was examined in Minnesota in the morning and sent back to Los Angeles to receive platelet-rich plasma therapy. The team says he is to rejoin the Lakers in Detroit on Sunday. He is listed as day to day.
Howard missed three games in January because of the injury, which he aggravated in a loss at Phoenix on Wednesday.
The injury means a return to the starting lineup for Pau Gasol, who hasn't hidden his disappointment with coach Mike D'Antoni's decision to bring him off the bench.
