New York, NY (Sports Network) - Montreal Canadiens forward Max Pacioretty,along with Boston center Patrice Bergeron and Minnesota Wild goaltender NiklasBackstrom, have been selected as the NHL's 'Three Stars' for the week endingMarch 3.
Pacioretty earned the First Star after posting at least one point in all fourof Montreal's games en route to four goals and seven points. The Montrealwinger scored two goals in a 5-2 win over Toronto before notching a goal andan assist in back-to-back games to close out the week.
Bergeron finished the week with five assists and seven points to claim theSecond Star. The reigning Selke Trophy winner as the league's top defensiveforward registered at least one point in all four games last week and scoredthe overtime winner in a 2-1 victory over Ottawa on Feb. 28.
Backstrom was named the Third Star after going 3-0-0 with a 2.00 goals-againstaverage in his three starts last week. Backstrom closed out the week with a19-save effort in a 4-2 win over Edmonton on March 3 to improve to 17-0-0 in17 career home games against the Oilers, which is the second-longest winningstreak against one team by any goaltender in NHL history.
