MENOMONIE, Wis. - One man is dead and dive crews are searching for another after a semi truck plunged off Interstate 94 and into the Red Cedar River early Tuesday.
Christine Ouellette of the Wisconsin State Patrolsays the eastbound semi went off the road near the city of Menomonie around 4 a.m.
First responders arrived on the scene to discover the truck was fully submerged.
Divers were able to recover the body of the driver. A passenger is still unaccounted for.
Crews shut down I-94 eastbound at Highway 25 diverted through Menomonie. The freeway was reopened later Tuesday morning.
Troopers say the semi is from Michigan but offered no further details.
A second crash just west on I-94 has also snarled traffic near Hudson. The State patrol says the crash, which happened at mile post 1 around 8:20 a.m., shut down two of three westbound lanes for more than an hour.
