ANOKA, Minn. - Prosecutors have filed laundry list of felony charges against a Coon Rapids man accused of videotaping nude boys at two north metro YMCAs.
A criminal complaint filed Tuesday details the charges against 53-year-old Robert Dennis Minor of Coon Rapids. Minor is accused of crimes from stalking and use of minors in a sexual performance or pornographic work to possession of child pornography.
Authorities say they were tipped off to Minor's activities by a 12-year-old boy who said he was changing clothes in abathroom stallat the Andover YMCA when he noticed a hand come over the top of the stall holding a wristwatch. The boy said it appeared that the person holding it was pointing it at him.
The boy exited his stall and was able to observe the person in the stall next to him, an overweight white male wearing green shorts, a grey shirt and socks pulled up high.
Police and officials at the YMCA were notified about the incident and were able to identify minor. A search warrant was drawn up and executed at the suspect's home, which he shares with his parents. Police located a watch with video and still camera capabilities,
Investigators also searched a computer and an external hard drive that contained video clips of naked young boys naked in the YMCA locker room, clips that also contain the image of Minor shooting video with the watch camera.
Also on the drives were thousands of videos and still images of naked pubescent boys engaged in sexual acts.
If found guilty Robert Minor faces a 10 year prison sentence for each of the three most serious charges, and up to five years in prison for each of four possession of child pornography charges.
