MINNEAPOLIS - The Minnesota Twins are promising fans a new-look team after two consecutive losing seasons.

There's also a new seating setup at Target Field to watch them from.

Three sections of traditional bleacher seating have been removed in favor of a more casual space. The Twins decided to reconfigure about 200 seats to give fans a new wrinkle.

"We took those bleacher seats out and rebuilt them to be more like a drink rail. It's a standing area. Each seat's numbered, and has a ticket assigned to it. There'll be tall stools that you can sit on. It's more of a group-gathering type area, kind of a different way to watch the game

Here'sa project breakdown from the Twins:

  • Create an exciting destination for group and single-game ticket purchasers, similar to the Budweiser Roof Deck
  • Improve sightlines for all fans by eliminating a block of obstructed view seats
  • Reduce concourse congestion by reducing a "pinch point" near Sec. 141 New drink rail seating
  • even rows of drink rail seating will replace bleacher seating in sections 139, 140 and 141

New Drink Rail seating

  • Drink rails will include stool seating with backs
  • The new 200-seat space will be defined by a canopy at the back of sections 139 and 140
  • Ticket prices for the new seating area will be announced soon
  • Discussions are ongoing with potential entitlement sponsors
  • The canopy will include radiant heating
  • Existing bleachers will be donated to St. Paul youth baseball fields

Concourse extension

  • Concourse platform at section 141 will be extended
  • Additional drink rails will be added
  • The space will feature a Kasota limestone fa├žade
  • The extension will serve as a unique standing area for all guests
  • Additional concourse area will improve traffic flow between Gate 34 and Gate 29
