GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. -- Students at the University of Minnesota are offering a support system for children who have or had a parent with cancer.

Camp Kesem is a summer camp for kids who have a parent or loved one who has cancer, is in remission from cancer, or who has passed away from cancer. The camp gives children the chance to be kids while offering a strong life-long support system. The week-long sleep away camp offers everything from arts and crafts to "Cabin Chats" with fellow campers and counselors.

The camp is designed for children ages six to 16 and is now accepting applications for summer 2013. Camp runs from August 18th through 24th this year and will be held at Camp North Star in Hayward, Wisconsin. The camp is free for campers and their families, and is available on a first come, first serve basis.

Camp Kesem is offered in many towns across the United States. For more information, or to find a camp visit
