GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - There are expected to be more than 13 million jobs created during the next 10 years, and that could force employers to look to an older age group to fill those spots.

A recent study from the Chartered Institute for Personnel and Development Figures finds 27-percent of the current workforce is made up of employees over 50.

That number is expected to dramatically increase by 2020 as an increasing number of workers delay retirement.

Still, the study finds those above 50 are the age group "least" recruited.

Marci Alboher is the author of the "Encore Career Handbook" and came on KARE 11 Sunrise to talk about the difficulties facing older workers.

Alboher attended a number of events in the Twin Cities to discuss those second acts for older workers.

On KARE11 Sunrise, Alboher said her number one tip is to explore your passion through volunteering. Alboher said using skills you already have to explore an area of interest can open doors and give you new contacts.

While Alboher believes we will continue to see an increase in the number of older workers, those who are in that demographic now are "trailblazers" who will face challenges along the way.
