GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - "The Great Gatsby" hits theaters on Friday and with it comes Daisy Buchanan inspired hair trends.
This spring, short hair and the retro-chic look is in with faux bobs, elegant waves and vintage inspired accessories, but it can be hard to get the look at home. Maddie Johnson, stylist at LifeSpa,showed offa few tricks to getting Gatsby glam.
Finger waves- Create a deep side part and section hair into three parts. Starting on the heavier side of the part, take a section of hair and curl hair under. Then, curl the same section of hair over, creating an "S" shape in the hair. Continue making these waves section by section throughout the hair and use finger waves to secure the waves and set with a light hairspray. Once hair is set, remove the clips and brush out your hair and spray with a shine spray.
The faux bob- Many of us may not be ready to embrace the bob cut just yet but you can create the illusion of a bob with just a few products and bobby pins. Curl your hair using a curling iron. Once the hair is curled, tie hair in a low ponytail and roll the hair under the elastic and tuck toward the nape of the neck. Be sure to spread the hair evenly in a horizontal direction, thus creating a bob. Leave sides of hair out to further create the illusion of the bob. Secure with as many bobby pins as needed and finish with hairspray.
Short hair- Daisy's adorable 1920's bob is sure to make short hair one of the hottest hair trends of summer. Make it your own though- short hair can be low maintenance and doesn't require a full on finger wave daily.
Vintage inspired accessories- Daisy Buchanan is seen throughout the movie wearing glittery and dramatic headwear including glamorous headbands, headscarves, feathers and jeweled hair clips. The trick? Don't overdo your hair and think loose, no fuss waves and let the accessory speak for itself.
