EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. - DNA belonging to Mandy Matula wasfound in a blood sample from a jacket in David Marshall Roe's vehicle, according to the Eden Prairie Police Department.
Police said that Matula was with Roebefore her disappearance. Her parents reported her missing on Thursday morning.
Based on information from thefamily, police identified Roe as a person of interest and contacted him by phone. On Friday, Roe agreed to meet with an investigator, but when he arrived at the police station, he shot himself in his vehicle.
Police said that ballistics testing confirmed the markings on the unfired bullet discovered by volunteer on Saturday matched the same gun that Roe used to kill himself. They said that the markings showed that it was in the chamber of the gun at some point.
The volunteer found the unfired bullet near Eden Prairie Road and Scenic Heights Road. An extensive search in the area over the weekend turned up nothing.
On Monday, Eden Prairie police released a clearer description as to where Roe was in the hours afterMatula was last seen.
Evidence has led police to search in targeted areas around Eden Prairie, Carver County and Stearns County.
Anyone with information on Matula's whereabouts, or who may have seen her with David Roe on Wednesday evening is asked to call the Eden Prairie Police Department at 952-949-6200.
