MINNEAPOLIS - Police and Water Patrol teams are searching the Mississippi River after witnesses reported seeing two people jump off a bridge in Minneapolis Tuesday morning.

Minneapolis Police spokesperson Cyndi Barrington tells KARE 11 that911 calls began coming in around 4:30 a.m.,tellingdispatchers that a man and woman were seen jumping off the Stone Arch Bridge.

Traffic cameras show first responders from Minneapolis Police & Fire, and the Hennepin County Sheriff's Water Patrol on the scene searching for the alleged victims.

A spokesperson for the Hennepin County Sheriff's Department says it is believed the two people who jumped are dead after drowning in the river.
