BLOOMINGTON, Minn. - Traffic is finally moving again hours after more than a half-dozen people were transported to area hospitals following a pileup on I-35W in Bloomington Friday afternoon.

The wreck, which happened near the 82nd Street exit, shut down all lanes of busy northbound I-35W just before 1 p.m. Unconfirmed reports say at least eight people were taken by ambulance to area hospitals. Traffic started moving again at about 1:45 p.m.

MnDOT traffic cameras showed a handful of vehicles with twisted metal littering the roadway, and a semi that appeared to be leaking diesel fuel.

Traffic was diverted off the freeway at 86th street but backups on the system were significant.

In fact, a second crash happened back at the 98th Street exit. MnDOT cameras there show bumper to bumper traffic as vehicles crawl north on the interstate.
