NEW RICHMOND, Wis. - Just one year after receiving the "2012 New Richmond Small Business of the Year Award," St. Croix Industries is at risk of closing its doors because of a budget shortfall. The western Wisconsin facility helps Saint Croix County's most underserved community. The state of Wisconsin has decreased the funding to the operation.

St. Croix Industries' program administrator says it takes $2,000,000 for this place to run, but they projects the lack of state funding will put them $500,000 in the red.
The county board can vote to save St Croix Industries with tax dollars or lose it to a private organization.

The county's Health and Human Services Committee will hold a public forum on Monday about the future of St. Croix Industries. The St. Croix County Board will discuss the issue at its June 4 meeting.
