GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - Daytime television host and comedian Ellen DeGeneres was announced as the host for the 2014 Oscars which will air live Sunday, March 2 on ABC.

She announced the news on Twitter by stating, "It's official: I'm hosting the #Oscars! I'd like to thank @TheAcademy, my wife Portia and, oh dear, there goes the orchestra."

DeGeneres hosted the 79th Academy Awards in 2007.

"I am so excited to be hosting the Oscars for the second time. You know what they say - the third time's the charm," DeGeneres said in a statement posted onOscars.org.

The host is also known for her role in the Pixar film, "Finding Nemo," where she played Dory the fish with short-term memory. She recently announced the highly anticipated sequel, "Finding Dory," is in the making which will be released in November 2015.
