LAKEVILLE, Minn. - Fire investigators are looking for the cause of a hot-burning blaze that caused significant damage to a home in Lakeville early Monday.
Crews were dispatched to reports of a fire at 11901 Knolls Path just before 1:45 a.m., and when they arrived heavy smoke and flames were pouring from the second floor of the residence.
Rigs from the Savage and Burnsville Fire department were quickly called in to help with water supply, while 35 firefighters from Lakeville's four fire stations battled the structure fire.
Firefighters extinguished the fire but the home suffered heavy damage throughout.
One occupant suffered a minor burn injury, but everyone in the home was able to escape. There were six kids and two adults inside the home at the time of the fire.
Crews remained on scene until 6:30 a.m. to check for fire extension and ventilated the home due to high carbon monoxide readings.
