FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn.-- Kaitlyn Wiener won first place in the 2013Fleischmann's Yeast "Best Baking Contest" with her recipe for "Maple Cream Cheese Monkey Bread."

Maple Cream Cheese (Mini) Monkey Breads

Bread dough
1 cup warm milk (120-130)
1 (1/4 oz) packet Fleischmann's RapidRise yeast
3-3 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
2 tbsp brown sugar
1 large egg
2 tbsp butter, melted

In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine the warm milk and yeast and let sit until foamy, about 2-3 minutes. Using the paddle, stir in 1 cup flour, salt, vanilla, brown sugar, egg, and melted butter until the mixture is smooth. Switch to a dough hook and continue mixing. Add remaining flour slowly until dough begins to pull away from the sides of the bowl and forms a ball. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and place in a warm area to rise 30 minutes, or until doubled in size. While its rising, make the cream cheese filling, sugar mixture, and sauce.

Cream cheese filling
1- 8 oz block cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup maple syrup (plus 2 tbsp for drizzle)

Mix softened cream cheese and 1/4 cup maple syrup together until smooth. Set aside.

Sugar mixture
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 tsp cinnamon

Mix granulated sugar and cinnamon together in a bowl for rolling the dough balls.

1/3 cup butter, melted
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup maple syrup

Stir together butter, brown sugar, and maple syrup until combined. Set aside.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease one 12-cup muffin tin with cooking spray. Once dough is doubled in size, remove from bowl. Pat into a rectangle on the counter. Cut into 36 squares. One at a time, flatten each square into a circle. Fill with about 1/2 tsp cream cheese filling, seal edges, and roll into a ball. Roll ball in sugar mixture, and place three balls in each muffin cup. Once complete, pour the sauce evenly over the muffin cups. *Note, you will have extra cream cheese mixture. Save for frosting. Bake 17-20 minutes, until golden brown. Cool. Heat cream cheese mixture for 30 seconds to melt, add 2 tbsp maple syrup and drizzle over monkey bread. Serve immediately.
