San Jose, CA (Sports Network) - Chuckie Keeton tossed three touchdown passes and added another on the ground in Utah State's 40-12 rout of San Jose State in a showdown of former WAC teams.
The WAC disbanded as a football conference following the conclusion of the 2012 season, which saw the Aggies beat out the Spartans for the conference crown.
Keeton was 29-of-42 for 260 yards and added 52 yards rushing for the Aggies (3-2), who lost at USC last Saturday.
Brandon Swindall caught five passes for 79 yards and a touchdown and Joey DeMartino carried the ball 17 times for 120 yards in the triumph.
David Fales completed 25-of-48 passes for 314 yards with two interceptions for San Jose State (1-3), which has dropped three straight games.
Chandler Jones hauled in seven receptions for 115 yards in defeat.
A pair of Keeton first quarter touchdown passes to D.J. Tialavea and Keegan Anderson for three and five yards, respectively, sandwiched around an Austin Lopez 31-yard field goal, staked the Aggies a 14-3 lead after a frame of play.
Nick Diaz drilled field goals of 24 and 45 yards in the second to up the advantage to 20-3 midway through the period.
Lopez booted through a 26-yard field goal before Diaz split the uprights from 24 yards out to give Utah State a 23-6 halftime margin.
Keeton hit Swindall for a 17-yard score to make it 30-6 in the third before San Jose State countered with Jason Simpson's 1-yard TD plunge. Keeton added a 9-yard TD run with 15 ticks left in the stanza to give the Aggies a 37-12 advantage heading into the fourth.
Diaz's 21-yard field goal with 5:23 left in the fourth capped the scoring.
