GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - The official snowfall total in the Twin Cities ended up at 2.2" at the MSP Airport, not a blizzard but worth notingon the 5th of November.
Totals across the metro ranged from about 1 to 3 inches, afairly light event but our first measurable snowfall of the season. Itcomes a bit earlier than normal.
The average first snowfall of one inch or greater is November 18th in the Twin Cities.
A heavy band of snow developed early Tuesday in southwest Minnesota that dumped 5 to 10 inches from Pipestone to Marshall in a small area.
That heavy band continued northeast but become significantly lighter. Totals were around 4 inches in Redwood Falls up through Monticello. With warm ground temperatures much of the snowfall in the metro melted overnight.
Temps near 40 and sunshine today will mostly take care of what little remains.
