MINNEAPOLIS - DeLaSalle senior power forward Reid Travis has chosen to accept a basketball scholarship from Stanford.

"Given the needs and desires I have for my future, I feel Standford University is the best option I could choose for this chapter of my life."

Multiple media outlets reported that Travis' finalists included Duke and the University of Minnesota, but in the end the Cardinal won out.

"This was a well-thought out decision, and I am very comfortable and excited in making it," Travis said.

Travis led his high school team to a state championship in Class 3A last season. He was also earned a share of the Associated Press Player of the Year award with Apple Valley senior Tyus Jones.

Travis, Jones and Rashad Vaughn, formerly of Robbinsdale Cooper were dubbed Minnesota's "Big 3." Gophers coach Richard Pitino actively recruited each of the three top in-state recruits.

Jones and Vaughn have not yet committed to a school.
