BLOOMINGTON, Minn. - The 24 hour online fundraising campaign "Give to the Max Day" returns for its fifth year Thursday.

From midnight Thursday morning to 11:59 p.m. Thursday night, donors are encouraged to give to Minnesota schools and non-profit groups through The website lists more than $6 million in matching grants to boost donations. In addition, several prize grants are being awarded throughout the day, including designated "power hours" for donations.

A number of additional events are scheduled to encourage donations, including a special afternoon event where several Minnesota principals plan to go swimming with the sharks at Mall of America's SeaLife aquarium.

GiveMN organizers say they've raised more than $75 million since the program began in 2009.

Donations can be made at The site also includes fundraising leaderboards, and a live video stream of events and performances from the Mall of America.
