DeKalb, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Darrell Bowie led the way with 12 points as the Northern Illinois Huskies took down the Dartmouth Big Green, 64-57, in a non-conference clash at the NIU Convocation Center.
For the Huskies (3-4), Jordan Threloff added 11 points and Pete Rakocevic chipped in with 10 points.
Gabas Maldunas led all scorers with 18 points for the Big Green (3-2), while Alex Mitola finished with 13 points and John Golden scored 12.
NIU shot 42.9 percent from the field in the first half and held Dartmouth to just 38.5 percent. After seeing themselves down by seven midway through the first half, the Huskies outscored the Big Green 21-3 to close out the frame as they took a 35-24 advantage into intermission.
After the break, NIU connected on 50 percent from the field but did miss all four of its 3-point attempts. Dartmouth improved to 43.5 percent and made 3- of-11 from beyond the arc. After playing from behind for most of the half, the Big Green battled back a retook the lead with just under eight minutes to play. They still led 54-52 with 4:31 remaining, but the Huskies finished the game on a 12-3 run to pull out the victory.
The Huskies dominated at the free-throw line, outscoring the Big Green, 21-6. NIU got 28 points from its bench to just seven for Dartmouth's reserves.
