ST. PAUL, Minn. -- A man is in serious condition after he was struck in a hit-and-run on Saturday night in St. Paul.
Police said that Ronny Gray Jr. was struck by a vehicle driven by a 36-year-old woman after the two got into a fight. The incident happened around 5 p.m. near 7th and Mercer Streets.
Amy Boche and her husband Jeff Boche witnessed the hit-and-run near their St. Paul home.
"It sounded like a basketball bouncing on the ground," Jeff Boche said. "It is a sound you never forget."
Amy Boche says she was reading at home when she heard chaos.
"I heard yelling and people banging. It sounded like banging on cars," she said. "I got up to look out the window and there were people going between two cars and screaming at each other."
Amy Boche said she told her husband to check out the situation. Moments later he was on the phone with police.
"The car started to creep forward. It just kept going and going. The man was kind of back peddling and he eventually ended up on the hood of the car," Jeff Boche said. "After he fell off the car (the driver) proceed down past the Sholom hall and that is the last I saw of it."
Jeff Boche said the driver drover 50 – 75 feet before Gray fell off the hood of the vehicle.
Amy Boche, who is still taking it all in, said Gray was "bleeding so badly I ran to get a towel."
Police have arrested the suspect. KARE 11 is not releasing her name because she has not been charged.
