1. Hillary Clinton's new book is out
In an interview with USA TODAY about her new book, Hard Choices, published today by Simon & Schuster, Clinton said a woman running for president in 2016 (whether her or someone else) would encounter a different and friendlier political landscape than she did in 2008. Then, she faced sexist catcalls at some rallies and more subtle sexist jibes in a bid for the Democratic presidential nomination that was won by Barack Obama. Here are five key passages from the book.
2. Israeli lawmakers vote to elect new president
Lawmakers in the 120-member Knesset are voting by secret ballot from among five candidates to replace outgoing President Shimon Peres. 3. President Obama hosts event on college affordability
President Obama will take to Tumblr on Tuesday in an event at the White House moderated by Tumblr Founder and CEO David Karp. Obama will answer questions from people across the country on the importance of education, college affordability, and reducing student loan debt.
4. Senate Armed Services briefing on Bergdahl
The Senate Armed Services committee will be briefed on the Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl prisoner exchange Tuesday. The briefing will be closed to press. Even after five years of captivity, Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl could still face a lengthy investigation and trial on AWOL or desertion charges if the military concludes that he left his post without authorization before his capture by the Taliban.
