MINNEAPOLIS - A department-issued handgun, ammunition and uniform were among the items stolen from the car of an off-duty Minneapolis police officer last month.

Police said that the pickup truck, owned by Bryan Castle, was parked in a drug store parking lot in St. Paul when it was broken into.

Later that day, Minneapolis police spotted a vehicle that had been reported stolen in Hopkins. The vehicle was pulled over and the 17-year-old driver was arrested.

Items belonging to Officer Castle were found in the vehicle. A subsequent search of the suspect's residence turned up more evidence, but items including a .45-caliber handgun and his uniform have not been found.

The teenager admitted stealing the vehicle, but he would not cooperate with police when asked about the stolen police equipment.
