MINNEAPOLIS -Police in two metro communities are trying to determine if a pair of restaurant robberies Thursday morning are the work of the same criminals.

Minneapolis Police Department Spokesman John Elder says three armed individuals entered the Subway on the 2400 block of East Hennepin Avenue around 7a.m. wearing masks and gloves. The suspects forced the employees into the cooler and fled the store with an unknown amount of money

About 90 minutes later, St Anthony Police Chief John Ohl says three black males wearing masks and armed with weapons entered the Subway at 2900 1/2 Pentagon Avenue Northeast. The suspects grabbed cash from the store and fled on foot.

No injuries were reported in either robbery.

Both agencies are talking with Minnetonka Police to determine whether today's robberies may be tied to an armed heist early this week at the Lone Spur Grill. In that robbery one employee was assaulted by three masked suspects before the restaurant opened for lunch.
