MINNEAPOLIS – Minnesota Timberwolves player Dante Cunningham was arrested by the Medina Police Department for suspicion of domestic assault.
He is currently being held without bail in the Hennepin County Jail. According to jail records he was brought in around 6 a.m. Thursday morning.
The Medina Police report states that officers were called to a home on the 400 block of Medina Road on reports of a physical domestic assault. A woman stated she had been assaulted and no medical treatment was needed.
Dante Cunningham had left the scene, but during the course of the investigation he returned and was arrested without incident.
The case remains under investigation.
The Timberwolves played at Target Center Wednesday night beating the Memphis Grizzlies. They are traveling to Miami Thursday afternoon to play the Miami Heat on Friday.
The Minnesota Timberwolves issued the following statement:
"We are aware of the matter involving Dante Cunningham and are in the process of gathering more information. Dante will not be traveling with the team to Miami this afternoon. The Minnesota Timberwolves organization takes the matter very seriously and does not condone the type of behavior that is associated with this situation. However, we need to let the legal process run its course, and will have further comment at the appropriate time."
