COLUMBIA HEIGHTS, Minn. -- Authorities are looking for a 16-year-old boy after he allegedly shot his brother Monday afternoon.

Police say they received a call around 3:30 p.m. from a woman who told them her 19-year-old son had been shot by his brother.

The incident happened on the 1700 block of 37th Avenue Northeast, and police set up a perimeter in hopes of taking the 16-year-old into custody. He was not found. Police say he may still have the handgun in his possession.

Witnesses told police that the 16-year-old may have been "playing" with the gun while pointing it at his brother.

The victim was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

The case remains under investigation by the Columbia Heights Police Department and the Anoka County Sheriff's Office.
