SHOREVIEW, Minn. – A well-known restaurant in the north metro closed its doors Saturday night.

"We had a staff meeting and I got pretty emotional," says Lynn Satt, co-owner of Kozlak's Royal Oak Restaurant in Shoreview. "Lots of great memories."

The Kozlak family opened the restaurant in 1977 and it quickly became known for fine dining and warm service.

"It's all about hospitality," says Lynn's husband Mark, who is also the head chef. "Our job is to make sure the customer has a successful night."

Staff and customers alike call Kozlak's "white linen, but without the stuffiness" and those who came out on Saturday said they are sad to see it go.

"We've been coming here for 20 years," says Ken Jones of Andover. "We'll struggle to find another one like it."

Realizing the property was too valuable, the Kozlak family of owners decided to take the offer from a residential developer. The space will likely become a senior-living residence.
