ST. PAUL, Minn. - One of the hardest parts of dealing with a serious illness when you are a kid is missing out on the day-to-day things: Hanging with friends, playing ball, going to summer camp.
The nice folks at Gillette Children's Hospital in St. Paul are doing their best to help out with that last one.
Camp Get-A-Well-A brings some of the carefree joy of going to camp to the kids who can't leave the hospital. On Monday the young patients designed and made their own super hero capes, to wear at Wednesday movie night when they watch "The Incredibles."
On Tuesday a bunch of animals from the Minnesota Zoo were paying them a visit. No one knew what species were going to show up, adding to the excitement.
The goal of Camp Get-A-Well-A is simple: to put a smile on the faces of children dealing with serious circumstances, and help them feel like normal kids, at least for a little while.
