Bloomington, Minn. - As students head back to class Tuesday, there are some new rules.
Students entering the 7th grade are now required to receive the tetanus, diphtheria and whooping cough vaccine, known as T-DAP. Plus, students are also encouraged to get the bacterial meningitis vaccine. The change is keeping clinics plenty busy before the school year begins.
Elizabeth Olson, who works at The Clinic at Walmart, operated by Hennepin County Medical Center, said her branch has seen double the amount of patients. The Bloomington clinic, 715 East 78th Street, is open on Labor Day from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Parents can choose not to have their child vaccinated but must provide the school with a notarized medical or philosophical exemption form.
