Motivation Monday's Chris Freytag says walking is a low-impact exercise that offers real health benefits, including cardio.
BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- Getting out and about can be challenging in Minnesota during cold and snowy winter months. Walkers have a warm and dry option, though, with the many malls that open early for walkers.
Chris Freytag headed to Mall of America in Bloomington, which has a number of routes marked for people who want to walk a mile, 5K or 10K paths.
"We open at 6 a.m.," said MOA's Sarah Schmidt. Schmidt says dedicated walkers have been using Mall of America for their daily walk since the mall opened in 1992. Now the mall hosts the Mall Stars program, which offers educational speakers and a monthly breakfast in addition to the fellowship of like-minded walkers.
