GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - The dogs are barking across Minnesota Thursday morning.

We're talking sun dogs, a weather phenomena that appears on the horizon on frigid winter mornings.

KARE 11's Sven Sundgaard explains it this way:"Sun Dogs Happen when the sunlight passes through ice crystals. The best time to see them is sunrise or sunset."

If you missed Thursday morning's sun dog pack, don't sweat it. Mr. Sundgaard says we will probably see them both Friday and Saturday.
