MINNEAPOLIS – Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak will officially end his 12-year tenure at midnight on Jan 1.
Via Twitter on Sunday night, Rybak said that "There will be a couple nice surprises at my last press conference as Mayor …"
The news conference will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday.
In a past interview with KARE 11, Rybak said he will return to a role he played pre-mayor as an activist for change in Minneapolis.
In that interview, he denied rumors that he was planning on moving to Washington, D.C.
Rybak said that one of the highlights during his stay in office was when he officiated 46 same-sex marriages on the day the newly-passed law went into effect.
