ST. CLOUD, Minn. - The University of Minnesota-Duluth student who nearly froze to death after spending a night outside in subzero temperatures, is moving to St. Cloud Hospital.

That's where Alyssa Lommel will continue her rehabilitation, according to a post on the family's CaringBridge site.

Lommel has been at Regions Hospital in St. Paul since mid-December, when she was found on a neighbor's front porch, unconscious and severely hypothermic. Since then, Lommel, a Cathedral High School graduate, has undergone surgeries to remove parts of her hands and feet that were damaged from exposure.

Lommel's mother, Teri Lommel, wrote on the CaringBridge site that Alyssa was set to leave Regions Hospital on Monday. She wrote that she had pushed for Alyssa to be relocated to a spot closer to the family's home in St. Cloud.

"We will really miss all the wonderful people here (at Regions), but to be so close to home will be fantastic," Teri Lommel wrote.
