MINNEAPOLIS – A Twin Cities pizza chain received another presidential boost on Saturday.

In his weekly address, President Barack Obama talked about Punch Pizza owner John Soranno's decision to pay all his employees at least $10 per hour.

"In my State of the Union Address, I talked about pizza. More specifically, I talked about a pizza chain in Minneapolis -- Punch Pizza," the President said.

Obama said that story inspired New York restaurant owner Yasmin Ibrahim to give her employees a living wage by the end of this year.

Ibrahim told the President the decision "will allow us to attract and retain better talent, improving customer experience, reducing employee churn and training costs."

Ibrahim believes it makes good business sense while at the same time having a positive impact on the community.

Punch Pizza posted on its Facebook page this week that they are hiring at their Maple Grove location.
