MANKATO, Minn. - The family of Isaac Kolstad is asking family and friends through the website CaringBridge.org to continue to keep Isaac in their thoughts.

He had a pair of planned procedures in the last two days, the last one on Friday morning. A Mayo spokesperson said that he remains in critical condition.

The post from Blaine Kolstad reads:

Isaac had his surgery this morning and it went as planned. His condition remains critical. There are no planned procedures/surgeries over the next couple of days. An uneventful weekend will be good! Please keep him in your thoughts.

We ask that you continue to pray for Isaac and all of those involved.

Mankato East Students gathered on their football field Wednesday to pose for this very cool picture! Isaac wore #22 jersey during high school football as a Cougar and during his college football career with the Minnesota State University Mankato Mavericks.

The Kolstad's

Kolstad, 24, was found unconscious outside of a bar in downtown Mankato on Sunday, according to Mankato Police. Former Gophers' quarterback Philip Nelson was arrested shortly afterwards and jailed on charges of first and third-degree assault.

According to the criminal complaint, Kolstad and Nelson got into an argument shortly after leaving a Mankato bar. Police said that video surveillance show Kolstad striking Nelson in the back and knocking him to the ground. At that point a second man, Trevor Shelley, struck Kolstad and knocked him to the ground, police said. They said that Nelson followed that up by kicking Nelson in the head at least once.

On Sunday evening, friends, family members and former teammates of Kolstad gathered for a candlelight vigil at the Myers Fieldhouse on the MSU-Mankato campus, where Kolstad used to play football.

Family members have established a CaringBridge.org page. The family has also raised $38,500 for the Kolstad family via the YouCaring.com website. He and his wife had a daughter and she is pregnant with their second child.
