DULUTH, Minn. - A 26-year-old Kenyan runner has set a record at Grandma's Marathon, beating the previous mark by 31 seconds, according to a KBJR-TV report.

Dominic Ondoro finished in an unofficial time of 2 hours, 9 minutes, 6 seconds. He beat second-place finisher Christopher Kipyego by 2 minutes, 51 seconds.

Ondoro was with the lead pack until about mile 20, and then he went out on his own to not only win the race but also break Dick Beardsley's course record from 1981. Beardsley's record was 2 hours, 9 minutes and 37 seconds.

Beardsley was at the finish line and congratulated Ondoro shorlty after he crossed the finish line.

Kenyan Pasca Myers won the women's race in a personal-best 2:33:43.

Pasca Myers was by herself most of the way on Saturday morning. Myers, a resident of Fort Dodge, Iowa, was nearly a full minute faster than her nearest competitor.
