EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. – While several Metro lakes remain under strict wake restrictions, including Prior Lake and Lake Minnetonka, others have lifted restrictions just in time for the holiday weekend.

"We've been waiting a long time for that news," says wake surfer Charlie Lawrence. "It's been impossible with the no-wake rules."

Lawrence joined other boaters on Lake Riley in Eden Prairie on Friday hungry to go full throttle. Eden Prairie's Bryant Lake also lifted wake rules.

"We're used to seeing water, but not like this year," says Bill Rock in Eden Prairie. "I like to go fast and today we can finally do that."

The restrictions have been in place for weeks after rainfall caused lake level to rise dramatically endangering docks, lifts, and shoreline.

It's unclear when all lakes will be fully open.

Law enforcement recommends boaters check with lake associations and county officials to determine the rules for specific lakes.
