RUSH CITY, Minn. - A 28-year-old man died while trying to swim across the St. Croix River.
According to the Chisago County Sheriff's Office, deputies received a call at about 8 p.m. Saturday of a man being under water for seven minutes east of Rush City.
Witnesses told authorities the man, later identified as a Devin Johnson, swam across the river once and was on his way back when he started having trouble swimming.
They tried to locate the victim, but he did not surface again.
Rescuers found his body at about 9 p.m. His name is being withheld pending notification of his family.
