MINNEAPOLIS - Some might call it a a fantasy football fumble.

Yahoo! caught thousands of players off guard Sunday night when the popular fantasy football website malfunctioned.

Many fans ended up with fantasy teams full of players they didn't draft.

"We were all there. We had 12 of us, took us about three months to get this on the schedule" said Abbey Brau.

Brau and 11 girlfriends were all gathered Sunday night for a fantasy football draft party. She says everyone was ready "and then boom Yahoo! failure. We're all there, but Yahoo! didn't show up."

Most of the women were not able to get into their Yahoo! Fantasy Football draft room. It's a story that played out across the country as on one of the biggest fantasy football draft nights of the year.

Many fantasy drafters who were able to get logged in, quickly got booted out. Yahoo! posted they were aware of the issue and engineers working to fix it.

Thousands of fantasy team owners who were able to get logged in completed their drafts only discover the players they'd drafted were listed as being on someone else's team.

"I have no idea what Yahoo! was doing or how it was doing that," said John Nelson, who was drafting for a league made up of family members.

Social media exploded with frustrated fantasy owners venting. Yahoo! began tweeting, apologizing for the inconvenience. They even set up a page to keep users up to date on their site issues.

"We just kind of called an audible and chose to quit the draft and reschedule" said Brau.

Yahoo! says their engineers worked through the night to get the problem fixed and they claim leagues drafting Monday and beyond should be OK.
