ST. PAUL, Minn. - A teen sentenced to prison for a brutal attack is facing additional charges of assaulting a correctional officer in Ramsey County.
Seventeen-year-old Cindarion Butler is accused of hitting a jailer and a sheriff's deputy while he was at the Ramsey County Jail waiting to be transferred to the Minnesota Correctional Facility in Lino Lakes.
A criminal complaint says Butler refused to obey the officer's commands to go back to his cell, then struck him in the chest. The St. Paul Pioneer Press says the deputy stepped in and Butler punched him repeatedly before he was subdued.
Butler was convicted in January of attacking Ray Widstrand, who was trying to help a girl who had been knocked down in a fight in St. Paul. He was sentenced to 16 years in prison.
