SHERMAN OAKS, Cal. - While most of Hollywood glammed it up and walked the red carpet at the Golden Globe awards Sunday night, comedic actor Jack Black, as usual, went his own way.

Black accepted an invitation to a high school prom in Sherman Oaks, California, for 300 kids and young adults who have survived kidney disease.

Some have undergone transplants, others have had kidney transplants and others were just diagnosed.

The 13th annual Renal Teen Prom was sponsored by the non-profit Renal Support Network.

"It's a prom for kids that have kidney disease, that have had a transplant and didn't get to have a prom of their own, cause they were having medical problems," Blacksaid. "And it's a great night where kids get to meet other kids that have had the same situation, make friends and share their stories... and have a really good time. Lot of good times... dancin'... singin'... partyin'... you know prom."

The kids sure appreciated Black showing up so much... that they elected him Prom King.
