MINNEAPOLIS – One of boxing's biggest names is in Minneapolis this weekend.
"I'm excited to be here," says Mike Tyson. "But it's cold here. Too cold."
A full card of fighters plan to heat things up Friday night at the Target Center. That's why Tyson, the former heavyweight champion of the world, is in the Twin Cities.
Tyson is helping to promote the "Friday Night Fights" event which includes some fighters with Minnesota ties including Caleb Truax from Osseo.
"This will be a great fight," said Tyson on Thursday. "I'm happy to be here supporting these young kids."
Tyson is now a promoter and agent for up-and-coming fighters.
"These kids need to sacrifice," he said. "You have to sacrifice things and dedicate yourself to achieve your goals."
The event begins at 7 p.m. and tickets are still available.
