MINNEAPOLIS, Minn – KARE 11 and other Twin Cities media outlets got a first look at the new Vikings Stadium Preview Center. The interactive space is designed to give fans a peek of the future game experience when the stadium opens in July of 2016.
The Metrodome Square Building at 1010 South 7th Street offers panoramic views of the new stadium construction, and on the fifth floor fans can first step into a simulated player tunnel, then peek at new models of the stadium, built to scale with the cityscape.
"More or less actually kick the tires and more less get a feel see what the views are going to be from different spaces. The other part of the preview center that is really dynamic we can really showcase how the new building is going to be than what they experienced previously at the Metrodome," said Jason Gonella, Van Wagner's executive director of new stadium sales.
For those interested in suites, the interactive space also shows several options, including 23 suites are planned for turf level complete with a turf covered patio and 25 feet from the end zone action. The stadium will be around 60 percent transparent with the clear roof, and the plaza outside will stretch three acres.
"So you really get a good view as you come from the court downtown through that clear story, and the world's largest pivoting doors," said Steve LaCroix, Vikings Vice President of Sales and Marketing & Chief Marketing Officer
Vikings executives say other wow factors will include two massive video boards to engage fans, more space in a stadium nearly twice the size as the Dome.
"A lot more space in certain areas a lot more leg room and width to them so it will be a more comfortable experience after you walk in and out hopefully after a Vikings win," said LaCroix.
The Vikings staff said they worked to provide more affordable options with 12,000 seats with no seat licenses attached and some entry level tickets beginning at $40 to $50 dollars.
