ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Spamboni's new owner picked up the classic ice resurfacer Tuesday.

Dave Langevin, 36, son of NHL great after whom he was named, plunked down a cool $2,000 to purchase the zamboni used at the old St. Paul Civic Center arena.

Langevin, who says he's going to use it on his family's backyard rink, is receiving zamboni operating and driving lessons from Xcel Engergy Center Ice Operations Manager Travis Larson.

He also plans to rewrap the zamboni with a picture of his dad holding the Stanley Cup.

The Spamboni is more than four decades old, and was used to clean the ice between periods of the St. Paul Fighting Saints and Minnesota State High School Hockey Tournament games. For the last ten it has been utilized to smooth out the bumps and cracks of the Wells Fargo outdoor skating rink at Landmark Plaza.
