PRIOR LAKE, Minn. – It was not only the annual "Highway 13 Dual" in Prior Lake on Friday night, but it was also a "Takedown Cancer" event.

Prior Lake hosted New Prague in a massive wrestling meet with wrestlers from kindergarten to varsity. Even more special, money from tickets, food, t-shirts, and donations helped support the Randy Shaver Cancer Research and Community Fund.

Similar to the "Tackle Cancer" events throughout Minnesota high school football, this year the state's wrestling coaches wanted to get in on the action and make a difference.

"This disease really affects everyone," said Prior Lake head coach Joe Block. "We're here to wrestle, but there's a big picture here, too."

The Friday night meet raised more than $2,000.

Dozens of other wrestling teams from across the state are also holding similar events this season.
