MAPLEWOOD, Minn. - The Hill-Murray Pioneers made the state football tournament this year in large part because of the play by quarterback Zach LaValle.

The junior quarterback threw three touchdowns passes in the first half as Hill-Murray crushed Faribault in the State 4A Quarterfinals 45-21. LaValle finished 13 of 16 passing for 202 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions.

Hill-Murray is the only metro team left in the State 4A football playoffs. They face Rocori on Saturday at the Metrodome.
